Cookbook Information

To Our Shalom Club Family
We are launching our search for your favorite family recipes. There are some rules we need to follow so that our cookbook reflects all of your delicious foods you have treasured over the years.

       A. If this recipe has been in a cookbook or the back of the box of rice please indicate it on the recipe.
       B. If possible please type out the recipe, double space, when you send it to me. It will be easier to convert so all pages are uniform.
       C. If you want your recipe in a specific area (dairy, holiday, international) please indicate that in your e-mail along with the recipe.
       D. When sending your recipe please follow the format below:

   Serves:
   Prep time:
   Ingredients:
   Directions:
Notes: (these can be a little story about the recipe such as: My mom made this food every Friday night for Shabbat)

Additional Guidelines:
 1. List ingredients in order used and make sure all ingredients are included in the directions.
 2. Include all amounts and container sizes: 2 (8-oz.) cans, 1 (14-oz.) pkg. Use parentheses to separate amounts.

 3. Abbreviate measurements in the ingredients list (see standard abbreviations to the right), but spell them out in the directions.
 4. Check for consistency of names, ingredients, etc., e.g., don’t use “1 c. butter” on some recipes and “2 sticks butter” on others.

 5. Use ingredient names in the directions, e.g., use “Combine flour and sugar” rather than statements such as “Combine the first two ingredients.”
 6. Include temperatures and all cooking, chilling, baking, or freezing times.

   Cooking time:
   Total Time:
 7. Make sure ingredients and directions are clear, thorough, and accurate. For example, don’t assume the reader knows how to make yeast bread.
 8. Submit recipes exactly as you want them to appear.
